Cosmetic Restoration

Would you say that you are happy with the way that your teeth look? If you are unhappy with them, it is time to think about your options and explore them. Cosmetic restoration is similar to full mouth restoration, but it is a bit different and focuses on the cosmetic side of your smile and not the health side of it. Cosmetic restoration will allow you to be able to smile with confidence and you will not find yourself scared to show off your teeth again.

At Dr. Kenneth Cho Dentistry, we focus on cosmetic restoration and we have years of experience in the field. Dr. Cho is trained and skilled in this trade and will provide you with all of the information you need to make an informed decision about your dental health.

If you would like to discuss your cosmetic restoration options, now is the time to contact our La Habra office and schedule your consultation with Dr. Cho.

Cosmetic Restorative Procedures and What We Offer

There are many different cosmetic restorative procedures that can be performed. These procedures will enhance the way that your teeth look and you will be able to achieve the smile that you have always wanted. The type of procedure that will provide you with the best results will depend on your idea of how you want your smile to look and also what type of candidate you are.

It is important for you to think about ALL of the options available because one may be better than the other for you. Dr. Cho will provide you with his expert recommendation, but the final decision is up to you. Below, we will explore some of the available and most common procedures.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are one of the most popular types of cosmetic procedures that areperformed in our La Habra office. Crowns are used for many reasons and patients like them because they provide you with a beautiful smile without the oral surgery. Many times, people refer to crowns simply as caps and you have probably seen most of them in either gold or silver.

The crown does not go below the gum line and sits at the gum line, but covers your entire tooth. It will provide protection to your tooth. Many times, a crown will be placed permanently on a tooth to ensure that the tooth is not damaged or affected.

Dental crowns are used for other purposes too. Some of those purposes include:

  • Improving the look and shape of your tooth
  • Supporting a decayed tooth
  • Covering up a discolored or stained tooth
  • Protecting a fractured or broken tooth

The type of crown you receive will depend on Dr. Cho and also your preferences. You do have a couple of options, which include stainless steel, ceramic, porcelain fused to metal, resin, and porcelain. Dr. Cho will let you know which option he thinks is best for your situation.

Most of the patients who visit our La Habra office choose to have a porcelain crown placed over their tooth because it can be color matched to their natural tooth color.

Dental Veneers

Veneers are another common cosmetic restorative option chosen by patients in our La Habra office. Veneers are made from porcelain and they are very thin when you look at their profile. The shell is placed directly on top of a shaped tooth and then cemented into place for a smooth and flawless look.

Many patients choose veneers for their front teeth, since these are the teeth that are most seen by others. Veneers improve not only the look, but shape and feel of your teeth a well. Veneers are considered durable, but they are only used on the front teeth since there are more durable options for the molars and rest of your back teeth.

When Dr. Cho starts the veneer procedure, he will determine just how many veneers you are in need of. It is possible that you may need to have two or three placed on your teeth at the same time. When it comes to the preparation of the tooth, do not panic. Dr. Cho will remove a small, thin layer of enamel from the tooth, but you will not feel it happen. Once your tooth has been shaped, an impression of it can be made and then sent off to the lab.

Once the veneer is received in our office, you will be called back in and the veneer will be cemented onto your tooth. Many patients choose veneers to:

  • Align teeth that are uneven, crooked, or misaligned
  • Cover broken, fractured, and chipped teeth
  • Hide stained and discolored teeth
  • Close gaps

One reason patients choose dental veneers is because your tooth can be shaped or straightened without the worry of braces or other procedures.

Veneers are durable and do resist staining which is another positive. You do not have to worry about the veneers staining when you drink coffee or even eat tomato sauce. While you do not have to worry about stains, you do still need to brush and floss your veneers.
