Zoom Whitening

Are you unhappy with the way that your teeth are colored? Do you shudder at the thought of smiling out in public because someone might see your teeth? If so, you may want to take a step back and consider teeth whitening options that are available to you. At Dr. Kenneth Cho Dentistry, we specialize in Zoom whitening. This process will provide you with a white, beautiful smile that you have always dreamed of. Patients who undergo Zoom whitening are happy that they did and they receive an instant boost of confidence when they leave our office.

What Is Zoom Whitening?

Zoom whitening is a type of whitening system that is used to remove discoloration and stains from your teeth and then whiten them to remove all signs of wear and age. Tooth discoloration is common and everyone experiences it. You will find that discoloration occurs from drinking coffee, smoking, eating foods that are acidic in nature, and wine. Whitening your teeth will remove these stains and allow you to enjoy a natural white smile.

Does Whitening Make my Teeth Sensitive?

Zoom Whitening Procedure

Before you can have Zoom whitening performed on your teeth, you will need to make sure you are a good candidate for it. When you come into our La Habra office, you will undergo a thorough consultation with Dr. Cho. He will explain all of the benefits with you and discuss how the procedure will take place. You will also find out just how many treatments it will take until you reach your desired level of whiteness.

Once Dr. Cho knows how many estimated treatments you will need to receive, you can begin treatment. The actual treatment will only take you about an hour to complete and you will notice results your FIRST visit.

When you arrive in our La Habra office for whitening treatment, you will be taken back to a dental chair and your gums and lips will be covered. From there, your dental hygienist will start to apply the Zoom whitening gel onto your teeth. This process does not hurt and only takes a couple of minutes to complete.

Once the gel is placed onto your teeth, a light will be turned on and then placed over top of your teeth. The light is designed to activate the gel and will begin to break down any discoloration and stains on your teeth. You will receive three 15-minute gel and light applications when you come in for your appointment. The number of applications you receive will, of course, depend on the shade of your teeth and the results you desire. Some patients may need more or less time than others.

Once your teeth whitening session is over, you will be able to leave the office and return to your normal daily activities without any problems. It is important that you take care of your teeth to ensure the results stick and you do not accidentally re-stain your teeth.

In addition, Dr. Cho does offer at-home whitening treatments where you can apply the gel yourself before bed and whiten your teeth at your own pace. If you would like to learn more about our at-home whitening kits, contact our La Habra office now.

The Zoom whitening gel is not designed to create sensitivity and is actually made to be sensitivity free. Of course, some sensitivity may occur in patients. The sensitivity is not usually caused from the gel, but from the light that activates the gel. Sensitivity caused from the light is not permanent and should dissipate once the light has been turned off and treatment completed. If you find that the sensitivity is too much for you to handle, please let Dr. Cho know right away.

Other Things to Consider about Teeth Whitening

Patients who are not in good dental health cannot have teeth whitening services performed on them. If you have gum disease, tooth decay, or you have similar problems, they will need to be corrected FIRST, then the whitening procedure can be performed.
